July LongBlog

I got lazy blogging. It's like most things that start with a big hype...the hype is bound to die down after a white. But i'm not giving up blogging - only the entries will be a little less frequent. Here's what happened in the past 1.5 months - well, the highlights only...the ones i remember anyways

Passport

I applied for a Canadian passport. What a hassle that is. Had to find people who know me for at least 2 years, then fill in a long form, had my picture taken, pay them $80, send the damn thing registered - they wanted originals of my (new) citizenship card. OK, now it's been processing for a month...it's almost time somebody in Halifax countersigns it and sends it to the Sudbury office via Vancouver for review so they can send it to Thunder Bay via Edmonton to the supervisor who can send it back to Halifax and then send it back to me and tell me that I am missing a comma in one of the fields so i have resubmit everything.

Taxes

Close to $4K owing. How sad.

Hobo

Aniko emailed me that the HBB is coming to town. Now that is cool! At first I didn't want to go because I wasn't sure if I wanted to go to a concert where 300 semi Hungarian/Canadian immigrants advertise that they are big Hungarians with a bad Hungarian accent after being here for 30 years and after carefully making sure that they pronounce every word so it sounds like they are Canadian immigrants. Akinek nem inge ne vegye gatyája.But I ended up going to the concert and it turned out to be very good.Good old Hobo knew what to say - not picking a side. He only sang a song that went like this:"Más nyelven beszélsz, más nyelven írsz, de magyarul álmodsz, magyarul sírsz." (You speak another language, you write in another language but you dream in Hungarian and you cry in Hungarian).

  • I had a dream where I got fined by GO transit for not having a ticket. The next day I got fined for real. Why is it so interesting? Beause I haven't yet seen a go ticket conductor yet for a year only the day after my dream. In my dream I got a $300 fine so when the guy told me it's $100 I almost told him "hah, that's nothing, I expected $300" :)

  • We went camping to Algonquin with Keith/Barb/Spencer/Marcel/Rachel. Had fun. The dogs got tired. Daisy was cold because she was shaven. No storm this time and didn't have to rescue anybody either.
  • We are looking at houses to buy
  • Mom was here rigth after we came back from Scotland. Then Csabi came. Busy summer.
  • Daisy learned how to swim in the creek at Lions Valley park. She was very reluctant first but I was in the water with her and held her by the belly so she became more confident. She likes it better when the paws touch the bottom. (me too)

Life Sentence,
No Parole

Murderers and rapists get out of jail over time. A chained dog serves a life sentence with no parole only because he is a dog while all he wants is to be with you and give you his unconditional love.

You agree this is wrong, don't you? Then you say "that's too bad", sigh, and move on. Do something about it. Please. Donate to Dogs Deserve Better to help unchain dogs and provide a kind, more loving life for them.

They are unseen. Forgotten. Alone. Forever. On a chain. Dying in the back yard of humans.
