I have some time before we go to Rachel's sister. Her name is Liz. We are having for Christmas lunch and dinner at her (Liz's) house. So I decided to write about the holidays. I'm pretty cold and would love to get a tea but Daisy is sleeping right by my feet and I know if I get up she will wake up and I really don't want to wake her up now because she's a little sick from throwing up a huuuuge piece of hairball just recently. OK, I'll try to move slowly...

Didn't work, she got up.

Here's what happened in the past week - in reverse order:

December 25th - until 3pm

Daisy threw up a huuuuge hairball after she pooped in the basement while were were away at Rachel's parents to open gifts in the morning. She was struggling with that damn hairball for days so we're glad it's out now.
I'm not sure about gift opening in the mornings. I wanted to sleep in. Our family always opens gifts on Christmas eve. It's a Hungarian thing, maybe even European, I can't believe we're the only nation wanting to sleep in.

I got a handsaw with a plastic guide and I'm pretty damn sure it's because Rachel told her dad that she wants the baseboards in the bathroom and in the living room to look nice and doesn't want me to cut them in any crooked angle:) And I also got a couple of shirts a Home Depot gift card from Mat, umbrellas, Rachel got this years edition of the M&M's collectors box.

December 24th

Christmas party at my cousin's with the Szocs family.

Christmas eve

Fun fun fun. I am amazed every year how the hell they can cook such good foods! This was the first time that we weren't early. I don't remember every arriving after Aron and my uncle but I guess I'm getting sloppier and Aron's getting more punctual. Wait...no...I'm getting sloppier period. The party was fuelled by wine, boozed up eggnog, tequila and beer. We ate Belinda's balls:) Tiny timbit sized sweet balls coated in coconut and chocholate, etc. Stever rubbed his nipple at the dinner table, I got a balloon in my cracker and then we opened presents. Funny story about Rachel's wish list: Aniko invited me to join a facebook wish list that they have going on for this year's presents. I basically replied that I don't like facebook and didn't join the group and went to whine about my own wish list that nobody cares about. I guess she took is as an ultra-sarcasting comment that they should use my wish list instead and they did. Aron and Heather got Rachel all she wanted: Beauty and the Beast DVD (home made copy because he couldn't find the original) and CSI season something (home made copy beacuse the original was too expensive). She even got a Family Guy super cool calendar. And I got an REM CD: Around The Sun. As soon as I saw it I was sure him and Rachel had it all set up because Rachel got me every REM album every made except Around The Sun and then Aron buys (sorry, burns) me the missing copy. A miracle!

Earlier the day we went to Mount Nemo to freeze our asses off and walk Daisy (I promised her lots of walks during the holidays).

Before that I was shopping for last minute gifts. I have never shopped for xmas gifts on the 24th but like I said, I am getting sloppier.

December 23rd

This is when Rachel's friends came over. We stuffed ourselves, drank some wine (I did) then played Monopoly.

December 22nd

Snowboarding day. Took the biggest fall yet. I'm still hurting. Damn.

We listened to Radiohead in the car on the way home - read the Radiohead entry here.

December 21st

Last day at work before the holidays.

We went to Rodney's Oyster House. Had oysters for the first time. Got all boozed up. Fun fun fun.

Life Sentence,
No Parole

Murderers and rapists get out of jail over time. A chained dog serves a life sentence with no parole only because he is a dog while all he wants is to be with you and give you his unconditional love.

You agree this is wrong, don't you? Then you say "that's too bad", sigh, and move on. Do something about it. Please. Donate to Dogs Deserve Better to help unchain dogs and provide a kind, more loving life for them.

They are unseen. Forgotten. Alone. Forever. On a chain. Dying in the back yard of humans.
